Topcraft (ト ッ プ ク ラ フ トToppukurafuto , also spelled Top Craft) was an animation studio established in 1971 by former Toei Animation producer Toru Hara, and located in Tokyo, Japan. He was famous for producing Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and for animating hand-drawn animation titles from Rankin/Bass Productions (New York, United States). The studio went bankrupt and disbanded on June 15, 1985, essentially dividing the studio in half. Hayao Miyazaki, Toshio Suzuki, and Isao Takahata bought the studio and laid off most of their animation staff, changing their name to Studio Ghibli.
